Fence Rail Basic Quilt Block

This is a very simple block that can produce a beautiful quilt!  Feel free to make as many blocks as you like for the drawing, remembering to put your name in once for each block you make.

  1. Choose five different fabrics, ranging from light to dark.
  2. Cut strips 1 3/4" wide from each fabric color
  3. Sew the strips together with a scant 1/4" seam.  You should end up with a long piece that is 6 3/4" wide.
  4. Carefully cut across the strips at 6 3/4" (or even 7") to make your 6 3/4" blocks!
